Morningside University undergraduate students Michael Griffen, Hayden Stephenson, and Alex Valdez will present their local research project regarding Barn Owl habitat and potential restoration.
This research is part of a grant funded by the National Science Foundation to improve undergraduate STEM education, using locally-relevant research projects. Barn Owls are rare, at best, in Siouxland, but climate projections indicate that the future may bring better living conditions. This project assessed local natural areas to determine where restoration efforts may have the best chance to succeed.
This project was mentored by Morningside University faculty Chad Leugers and Tim Sesterhenn.
LHAS Board Meeting begins at 6:00 PM with the Barn Owl presentation beginning at 7:00 PM.
Everyone is welcome to attend. Enjoy the evening!
